It’s Finally Happening: Your Icelandic Adventure Awaits
This is your moment to finally speak Icelandic in Iceland.
You’ve imagined it: walking ReykjavĂk’s cobbled streets, ordering a coffee confidently in Icelandic, soaking in a steaming hot pool while chatting with locals, and feeling the language come alive around you. It’s not just a dream anymore – this is your chance to make it real.
Icelandic isn’t just a language; it’s a living connection to a thousand-year-old culture, a rugged landscape, and a way of seeing the world that few outsiders truly experience. Most classes and apps can only teach the words, not the magic behind them.
Finally, there’s a way to learn Icelandic where it lives – to hear it, speak it, and use it in real life, surrounded by the landscapes and culture that shaped it.
The Viking Experience: Iceland Like a Local
Set against Iceland’s dramatic landscapes, from ReykjavĂk’s vibrant streets to the serene countryside of Borgarfjörður, this is Iceland as you’ve never experienced it before.
From cozy cafĂ©s and ReykjavĂk’s charming streets to countryside hikes, geothermal springs, bonfires under the Arctic sky, and stories of Viking lore, you’ll live Icelandic culture – not just witness it – while surrounded by landscapes that feel like a saga come to life.
And the best part? You’ll be guided by Ă“skar, a true Icelander from ReykjavĂk. He’ll share insider knowledge, local humor, and cultural insights no guidebook could offer, helping you connect with Iceland on a deep, authentic level.
Here, you won’t just see Iceland… you’ll feel it, live it, and understand it through the eyes of someone who calls it home. Your journey begins and ends in ReykjavĂk, with a magical night in the countryside near Borgarfjörður – a true Viking experience in every sense.
The highlights of your Viking Experience
REYKJAVĂŤK AS A LANGUAGE LAB
You’ll walk the city with purpose: ordering a pylsa, grabbing coffee, asking questions, and using Icelandic in the same streets where the Sagas began. We’ll visit a hidden bookstore connecting the language to Iceland’s living history.
And the swimming pools?
They’re your language lab.
This is where Icelanders actually talk – relaxed, social, and real. With guidance, you’ll step into conversations and start using Icelandic naturally, building confidence from day one.
INTO THE ICELANDIC COUNTRYSIDE
As we leave ReykjavĂk, everything slows down – and deepens.
The journey becomes a classroom, where you learn to describe the land, the weather, and the world around you in Icelandic. Out here, you’ll experience a quieter, more authentic side of the country.
You’ll visit an authentic Icelandic goat farm and pick wild berries right outside our hotel. If timing allows, you’ll witness the traditional sheep round-up (Réttir): a rare glimpse into Icelandic community life and a deep-rooted cultural tradition.
LANGUAGE WORKSHOPS THAT ACTUALLY WORK
Each workshop is designed around what you’ll be able to do by the end.
You’ll start with the sounds, rhythm, and essential phrases – getting comfortable speaking from the very beginning. Then you’ll learn how to ask questions, understand responses, and navigate real interactions.
By Day 3, you’ll be out in the world using Icelandic with guidance and coaching. By Day 4, you’ll consolidate everything and leave knowing how to keep improving.
FROM ONLINE LEARNING TO REAL CONNECTIONS
Many participants arrive already connected through online learning – but this is where those connections become real.
Spending four days together creates something different: shared experiences, shared progress, and the confidence to speak without overthinking.
By the end, you won’t just leave with better Icelandic – you’ll leave with real conversations behind you, and people to keep speaking with long after Iceland.
Immersed in Iceland: A Taste of What Awaits
Social Hubs & Local Flavors
Icelandic culture is best understood through its "social labs" and local tastes. You’ll practice the art of conversation in the geothermal pools – the community’s true town square – and master everyday language while grabbing a "pylsa" (hot dog) or sipping coffee by the harbor. By using the language in these casual settings, your greetings and small talk become second nature.
Sagas, Settlements & Scriptures
Connect the modern language to its ancient roots. By visiting the Settlement Exhibition and exploring a private collection of rare, centuries-old manuscripts, you’ll see how the Icelandic language has remained virtually unchanged for 1,000 years. This historical deep-dive turns the words you learn into a living connection to the Viking Age.
Rural Heritage & Farm-to-Table
Experience the resilience of the North through its agricultural traditions. A visit to an authentic local goat farm offers a glimpse into the rural life that shaped the Icelandic spirit. Along the way, we’ll enjoy a restaurant lunch in the countryside, using your new vocabulary to navigate a traditional Icelandic menu.
The Language of Nature & Ritual
The landscape of Borgarfjörður is your final classroom. As we explore the acreage around our hotel to forage for wild berries and watch the seasonal excitement of the Réttir (sheep round-up), you’ll be participating in ancient rituals. This is where the language of the land – weather, wildlife, and the harvest – comes to life in a truly immersive way.
Day 1 – Friday, 4th September | Arrival & ReykjavĂk Welcome
Arrive in the capital and meet the group for a casual lunch featuring Iceland’s famous 'pylsur' (hot dogs). We’ll spend the early afternoon on a relaxed stroll through town with stories and local insights from Óskar, followed by our first Language Workshop to help you get comfortable and start speaking right away. After a traditional Icelandic dinner, we’ll finish the day with role-play exercises to build your confidence.
Day 2 – Saturday, 5th September | ReykjavĂk Exploration & Storytelling
Uncover Iceland’s roots at the Settlement Exhibition and explore a private collection of rare manuscripts with a local expert and friend of Óskar. After our third Language Workshop, we’ll head to the local geothermal pools – the ultimate 'social lab' – to practice Icelandic like a local. We’ll wrap up the day with a group dinner and time to unwind by the harbor.
Day 3 – Sunday, 6th September | Waterfalls, Goats & Countryside Magic
We head North toward Borgarfjörður, stopping at two breathtaking waterfalls to capture the raw power of Icelandic nature. After a restaurant lunch on the road, we’ll visit an authentic local goat farm to experience rural life. Depending on the local schedule, we may have the rare opportunity to witness Réttir – the annual sheep round-up – one of Iceland's oldest cultural traditions. Once at our hotel, you can relax by exploring the vast grounds, which are typically lush with wild blueberries and gooseberries for you to pick and enjoy.
Day 4 – Monday, 7th September | Farewell & Departure
Enjoy a final Icelandic breakfast at Hotel Stafholt before our concluding Language Workshop to solidify everything you’ve learned. We’ll return to ReykjavĂk for departure, leaving you with new friends, sharpened language skills, and the soul of a Viking.
