I’m Ă“skar, a native Icelandic teacher, and together with SnæfrĂĂ°ur (Snæsa), we’re hosting a live beginner lesson that covers the fundamentals of Icelandic - the alphabet, pronunciation, and basic sentence structure you need to actually start speaking.
And yes, we’ll explain why Iceland has a giant cat that eats people who don’t get new clothes for Christmas, plus the 13 Yule Lads - Iceland’s legendary Christmas pranksters who come down from the mountains one by one, each with their own specialty for causing trouble.
You’ll leave with a clear understanding of how Icelandic works and what you need to keep learning.
